Now that you have your blog set up, the next step is branding and promotion. Promoting a blog may seem overwhelming, however, it’s quite straight forward and painless. My last post was all about the step by step on how to set up a blog. If you haven’t gotten that far, you can go back and read that article.
The first thing you’ll want to do is to make sure you have a logo. Think of the logo as your name in an image. You want your logo to portray what your blog is. You want someone to see your logo and understand what your blog is all about.
The next step is Social Media. You will want to set up the major Social Media platforms for promoting your blog. I use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. You can set up Instagram Twitter, and YouTube like normal, however with Facebook, I recommend setting up a page that people can like.
Make sure you add your logo to each of these Social Media platforms. Every time you add a post to your blog you will want to publish to these Social Media platforms with a link directly to your website/blog. Utilize your keywords in the hashtag that way people can find it easier.
Once you’ve got some traction, you can look into ads. You can do it either with most Social Media platforms. The popular ones are Google Adwords. The other option is using Facebook ads. You can also boost a post, which is what I normally do. I will post a link back to one of my blogs. Every now and then, Facebook will run specials where you can boost your post, and they will give you a credit, which makes it a better deal. They will also show you how many people have seen your post.
Another option that I haven’t mastered yet is a mailing list. You can create a mailing list and then create a monthly newsletter. The newsletter would have a blurb of all your articles. If a reader is interested, they can click the link and read the full article. that will direct them back to your blog.
Always make sure you’re keeping an eye on your website analytics. You’ll want to see where most of your traffic is coming from, that way you can maximize your efforts.
This may be a little overwhelming. However, if you work at it a little at a time it will all start to make sense to you. If you have any additional questions please feel free to Contact Me.
